Roly Poly

This is one of our Mother Goose “staple” songs. I know so many babies and toddlers who LOVE this song.  It’s a nice simple one to memorize too. I had one parent a couple of years ago, who said this was the only Mother Goose song she could remember (after our first class together), and she said it came in so handy when she and her partner were taking a trip with their baby. She said they sang it for an hour straight, just changing up the “opposites”. Apparently it was one of the only things that would calm her baby down. I was so happy to hear that she was able to use one of the songs she had learned to calm and entertain her child, as that is the focus and goal of Mother Goose classes. To teach parents and caregivers ways to calm, redirect, interact, etc with their child using songs and rhymes and just their voice 🙂

ROLY POLY
(Sung to the tune of "Frere Jacques")
Roly poly, roly poly.
Up, up, up. Up, up, up,
Roly, roly, poly.
Roly, roly, poly.
Down, down, down. Down, down, down.
(Repeat with “Out”/ “In”, “Fast”/ “Slow”….)
( can use other opposites: “Front/Back”, “Left/Right”)
