The Elevator Song

This is another fun “action” song. It also is a lot of fun when

sung with the parachute. If you don’t have a parachute, you can use a sheet or blanket. There are many other ways you can do this song:

You can have your child(ren) sit underneath the parachute/blanket or they can help move it up and down with you. Or you can omit the parachute/blanket, hold hands in a circle and go round while singing the first part ofthe song. When you get to the “elevator up… elevator down…” part, you can lift your arms up high and then crouch down low

With babies, you can face a mirror and bounce them until you get to the “elevator up…elevator down part and then you can lift them up and down (great arm/shoulder workout!  Make sure to bend those knees and keep your back straight!) or you can sing the song as a lap bounce and get a little thigh workout 🙂

This song is sung to the tune of “Do Your Ears Hang Low”.

Here are the lyrics…

The ELEVATOR SONG

Oh the city is great, oh the city is grand,

There are lots of tall buildings on a little piece of land,

And we all live up on the 27th floor,

And this is what we do when we go out the door….

Take the elevator up, take the elevator down.

Take the elevator up, take the elevator down.

Take the elevator up, take the elevator down,

‘Til we touch the ground.

The COUNTRYSIDE

-written by a mum in one of my classes 🙂

Oh, the countryside is great, oh the countryside is grand,

There are very few people on a large piece of land,

And we all live up in the old farm house,

And this is what we do when we see a mouse…

Chase ’em all the way up, Chase ’em all the way down,

Chase ’em all the way up, Chase ’em all the way down,

Chase ’em all the way up, Chase ’em all the way down,

Chase ’em all the way around.
